Shirley coordinates the media outreach strategy, produces written and multimedia content for the website, develops promotional materials, and manages the social media presence for the TIMSS & PIRLS International Study Center. She also edits the TIMSS Encyclopedia and PIRLS Encyclopedia, and covers the study center’s international research conferences. Previously she was an award-winning copy editor and staff writer for nine years at The Boston Globe. She has also worked at The Morning Call in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and at Newsday in New York. Shirley is a past New England chapter president of the Asian American Journalists Association, and earned a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in journalism from Stony Brook University.
