Shirley coordinates the media outreach strategy and communications for the TIMSS & PIRLS International Study Center. She produces written and multimedia content for the website, develops videos visualizing assessment results, and manages social media channels. She is an editor of the TIMSS 2015 Encyclopedia and the PIRLS 2016 Encyclopedia. Previously she was an award-winning copy editor and staff writer for nine years at The Boston Globe. She has also worked at The Morning Call in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and at Newsday in New York. Shirley is a former New England chapter president of the Asian American Journalists Association, and earned a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in journalism from Stony Brook University.
